As the cost of fish continues to rise and DEFRA is reducing the amount of fish that that can be caught, we are introducing alternative white fish which is cheaper and more sustainable.  At the moment we have introduced HAKE and ALASKAN POLLOCK, but more are on the horizon, so watch this space !

We have also got our  WINTER AWESOME £5.50 DAILY SPECIALS which include chips and a side, offering sausages, nuggets, small fish and pies…. please check them out under “meals” on the ordering app.

Nobody is answering your phone?
Sorry about that, no very sorry about that but we are a small team here at Drakes and we cannot cope with cooking, packaging,  and operating phone orders at the same time, so we have had to stop answering the phone

When are best times to order?
Well, busy times are 5.30pm to 7.30pm so outside of those hours will mean a shorter waiting time in the shop, last orders are just before 8.00 pm and most days we begin taking orders by 12.00 noon.

Can I phone and pay for my order?
Sorry not at the moment. But please use the Drakes ordering App and you can pay and let us know when you’d like to pick up your order.

      FISH & CHIP TAKEAWAY

Drakes was opened in the early 1990’s and the core menu has remained steadfast with unusual additions added over the years.  Traditional and amazingly popular North Atlantic Cod, Haddock, and Plaice as well as some great tasting Hake and Pollock which is a delicious alternative to Cod.  We also offer a great range of non fish items such as Sausages, Pies, Chicken Burgers and children’s meals as well as a range of vegetarian products.  

The large takeaway area regularly sees queues out the door and food is cooked to order keeping a light crispy batter.  

MSC certified fish is purchased in great quantity from trawlers by our appointed agent so we can offer the best quality product at very reasonable prices. Our potato supplier is just outside Exeter and delivers twice a week so we have the freshest potatoes possible.

Generations of locals know these chips which are peeled and chipped on site daily and cooked freshly throughout the day to produce a slightly softer “chip-shop” chip, delicious with lashings of salt and our special non-brewed vinegar.  Our homemade mushy peas are soaked and seasoned on site daily so they are green and fresh and delicious.  A mildly Chinese curry sauce is unique to Drakes and make the chips taste wonderful.
